Saturday afternoon, N and I decided to get out of the house and head to a champagne cellar 30 minutes way in Luxembourg. This particular cellar, Bernard-Massard, is the largest producer in Lux (which might not be saying much...Lux is really small), and we took their cellar tour, too.
When we arrived, I launched right into my fourth-grade level French and lasted about 3 sentences- a new record! Usually, at the first hint that you're not a native speaker, the other person takes pity on you and speaks English (even if you want to practice your other language-too bad). The tour didn't cost much, and we were told it would either be in German or French, which wasn't ideal but manageable, we thought. And then the tour group rolled in and the tour began in...Dutch. A language that N and I have no business trying to understand.
The nice tour guide man let us watch the video in English right before the tour, so at least we understood the basics: grapes, pressing, fermentation, whatnot. Bernard-Massard has been around since 1921 and makes award winning sparkling and non-sparkling wines. 
The weather decided to stop raining after 4 straight days of showers, and we had a great afternoon.
