Things are going well at 1 In Der Burg, Bruch. N got home (as scheduled- amazing!) on Friday afternoon, and we've been slowly unpacking since then. It's so nice to have him around again- it's much more fun and entertaining.
The move itself went pretty well. A friend, Laurie, volunteered to come over to help supervise the delivery of our household goods. Since this was my first "big" move, her help was much appreciated. The German movers were very efficient- it only took two hours to unload all the boxes from the crates and lug them upstairs- but a tad wreckless. They cut the upholstery in one of our chairs, and threw around some boxes, but other than some normal wear-and-tear, our stuff is in pretty good condition.
We got our bedroom all set up yesterday, and the kitchen is done. The large living/dining room is clearing out but still not in any sort of order. We've also got loaner wardrobes (to address the German lack-of-closets issue), a fridge, transformers, and a washer/dryer. The movers are returning on Thursday to pick up all the empty boxes, and we leave for Munich (Muchen, in German) on Friday to partake in Oktoberfest. I am hoping to have almost everything unpacked by then. They say to dream big, right?
