Even after a late night on Friday, we decided to head out to see a new town on Saturday. We picked randomly based on a little blurb that I read in a travel book, and it turned out to be perfect- only an hour and a half away and so quaint.

Monschau is near the French and Belgium border, and is covered with half-timbered houses. It reminded me a lot of Galena, IL, where my parents live.

Only residents are allowed to drive in the town, so visitors stroll along the streets and stop at the many cafes. We had gyros and salad and spoke with a man about our upcoming trip to Greece.

There were numerous streams that connected in the middle of town, where this water wheel was located. There were also a few old churches, and the ruins of a castle on a hill (with a youth hostel inside!).

And, of course, like most little cities, there were a few crooked houses. Adorable.
