A Foodie Weekend (And My Birthday!)

So. My husband is fantastic (surprises all weekend!) and I've just eaten at 2 of the best restaurants around- in one weekend! On Friday Hubs took me to Restaurant Landhaus Muhlenberg, a recommendation from our landlords. It was tucked away in the forest of a tiny town called Daufenbach, near Trier and about 20 minutes from us. We ate on the terrace amid a million plants and listened to the nearby stream all though a delicious dinner. The menu was set so we only had to choose between fish or beef for our main courses (we got one of each). The food was serious and seriously yummy (cold cucumber soup, salmon tartare, ravioli with truffles, melon sorbet, turbot with aubergines, vanilla ice cream with berries, coffee and chocolates...).


Yesterday, after playing a rousing game of bocce ball on the castle grounds (where we deftly avoided the wandering chickens and then had refreshing cocktails with our landlords under the walnut tree), we ate at the Waldhotel Sonnora, one of the best restaurants in Europe (3 Michelin stars!) and five minutes down the road. The food there was also ridiculously good- spiny lobster, champagne, sea bass and venison, a plate of chocolates. I feel spoiled and loved and full!
